Poems to Read

I will occasionally post poems here, mainly mine, but I'll share a few that others wrote as well. If a poem has been or will be published, I will mention it.
If you'd like your poem showcased, email me and make the subject "Poetry Share." Thank you for reading!

Sonnet 9/5

By Fawn Waldron, will be included in "The Rain Will Still Fall"

Do you think of me often?
I don't often think of you
But when I do, my throat tightens
And I don't know what to do
When thoughts of you take my mind
My cup overflows with sorrow
I cannot keep these thoughts in line
And I drown in them until the morrow
I know I deserve no pity
On account of what I did to you
I left your heart so sickly
Maybe the end was overdue
I'd pray, if only I could, to steal a glance of your eyes
So I could leave you with the gift of a proper goodbye

Honeypots and Ice

By Fawn Waldron, will be included in "The Rain Will Still Fall"

Honeypots collide with ice sculptures and nobody could handle the heat. The honey melts and the ice impales but still their worlds turn. They burn. Burn. Burn. Burn their pages of letters about carving ice and honey recipes. Light a fire that tastes sweet on their tongues. Their tongues overflow with memories of bee hives and cold nights. The coldest nights were never a match for the heat of their collisions. They collide with the sky when they are together. They plummet to earth when they hit the atmosphere. But they buzz when they drink the nectar of the other. They drink the sweetest honey and they gaze into the eyes of the coldest ice. Their honeypots and their ice sculptures. Their collision and their fall. How could they know that honey and ice could never fall in love?
